2016 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV facelift officially unveiled

Mitsubishi, the Japanese automaker has officially revealed the images and details of the 2016 Outlander PHEV facelift. First previewed as the Concept-S in September last year, the SUV now gets some cosmetic upgrades that make it look closer to the regular 2016 Outlander.

The vehicle features the company's “dynamic shield” front fascia with extensive use of chrome and can be differentiated by its bumper extensions and new side garnish. It is now available in two body paint jobs- Quartz Brown Metallic and an exclusive Ruby Black Pearl. The vehicle also gets new two-tone 18-inch machines & gloss black wheels.

Inside the cabin, the vehicle gets redesigned seats, larger center console, four-spoke steering wheel and a standard power-adjustable driver's seat. It also gets a heated steering wheel. The company claims that Outlander PHEV comes with lower NVH levels and offers better steering, ride and handling.

The hybrid setup has been optimized to get lower engine frictions, which results into an increase in fuel efficiency by 8 per cent and an increase in electric range by 0.6km. The company also claims that they have improved throttle response, and the vehicle now gets new safety kit such as the Multi-around View Monitor and an Unintentional Move Off Control system. The 2016 Outlander PHEV will go on sale on July 9 in Japan, and later this year will be launched in other international markets.
