Jeep India will today be officially debuting the 2017 Compass in India. After the unveil, it is expected that the iconic American automaker will launch the SUV in the Indian car market by the second half of 2017, around the festive season. The India specific model will be manufactured locally at Fiat Chryslers Ranjangaon facility, helping the brand keeping the prices of the Compass in check. The Jeep Compass is an international model and is to be sold in almost 100 countries worldwide with 17 different engine specifications. This year itself, Jeep made its official debut in India with two of its high end SUVs, the Grand Cherokee and the Wrangler. The prices of the former starts at INR 93.64 lakh (ex-showrom, New Delhi) while the one for the latter retails at INR 71.59 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The automaker was criticized right from the point when it declared the aforementioned prices since they are quite steep in comparison to its completion. The company has made it clear that from the next-year itself, the production of these two cars will begin in India, which will help in the reduction of the costs.

Talking about the all new Jeep Compass SUV, the same was recently snapped it was being filmed for what looked to be like a Television commercial. Nevertheless, clear images of the same have now been released by the automaker. Going by those, one can see that the front-facia of the all new compass takes its inspiration from the one that is available on the Grand Cherokee. There is the signature Jeep Grille and here it comes painted in the colour black. The hood features protruding black scoop while there is a large, angular air dam present of the aggressively styled front bumper. The side profile of the all new Jeep Compass SUV gets a simple yet tough look. There is a long shoulder crease which goes all the way to the back of the vehicle. Reminiscence of all the compact SUVs that are out there, the Compass too gets black plastic cladding adorning the wheel arches and the entire lower portion of the SUVs exterior profile. At the back there is a sloping roof, a roof mounted spoiler, a high riding boot lip with the silver skid plates summing up the entire look. The interior of the all new Jeep Compass SUV gets premium upholstery. The dashboard design is simple yet contemporary and the SUV will come loaded with all sorts of bells and whistles. The centre console comes with an 8-inch touchscreen multi-media system, automatic climate control, reverse parking camera, steering mounted controls, chrome inserts, push-button start among the others. On the safety front the SUV will come equipped with multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, hills start assists and other driver friendly technological aids. The India engine specifications of the all new Jeep Compass SUV are scarce at the moment. In the Brazilian market however, the same is available in both the petrol and diesel guises. The petrol derivative is powered by a 2.0-litre engine which is capable enough to produce 160Bhp along with 196Nm of peak torque. The diesel derivative will get a 2.0-litre Mulitjet oil burner which churns out 140Bhp along with 170Nm of peak torque. The Transmission responsibilities will be handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox, while there will also be a 7-speed automatic gearbox on offer as well.
The prices for the all new Jeep Compass SUV are expected to start at INR 18 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant and go up to INR 22 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top spec variant. With this, it will compete against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Tucson, Ford Endeavour and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
