Last year, Japanese car manufacturer Suzuki Motor Corporation launched the 2017 Suzuki SX4 S-Cross in the European and Japanese markets. Fast forward to today, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to officially unveil the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross 2017 facelift in India at a media event Udaipur. The 2017 S-Cross is believed to launch soon in India. Yesterday, Maruti Suzuki started accepting official bookings for the S-Cross at an amount of INR 11,000. That said, the 2017 Maruti S-Cross facelift sports a completely revised front fascia with a upright SUV like stance, new LED taillights and slightly reworked interiors. Dimensionally, the car remains largely similar but is 20 mm wider and 5 mm taller while the wheelbase is increased by 5 mm. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Design – The design of the 2017 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is completely overhauled with the front section sporting new projector headlamps with chrome accents and LED daytime running lights. The chrome garnished front grille gets a boxy design along with 10 vertical chrome slats. The wide air dam sits below the front grille while the chrome accentuated fog lamps sits on either sides of the bumper. The side profile of the car is more or less similar to the current gen model while the overall height of the car seems to be raised up. The rear profile of the car is slightly redesigned and the car now gets LED taillights. The car gets black plastic cladding all around the bottom of the car while faux sliver skid plates are present at the front and rear. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Interiors – Inside the cabin, the interior design is similar to the outgoing model but reports claim that Maruti Suzuki has made use of soft to touch materials for the facelift version of the 2017 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. Another refreshing change inside the cabin is the availability of the touch-screen infotainment system that is sourced from the Vitara Brezza and the Maruti Baleno. This system will come with support for Apple Carplay, Android Auto and MirrorLink connectivity as standard. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Engine Specifications – The India-spec Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will only be available with one diesel engine option at launch – the 1.3-litre DDiS motor. This engine will come equipped with an SHVS mild-hybrid system, while this power-train will produce 89 BHP of maximum power and 200 Nm of peak torque. That said, the company has decided to discontinue the 1.6-litre DDiS diesel engine, while a 1.5-litre M15A petrol and the in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engines will be introduced at a later stage.
Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Transmission – Transmission duties will be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox. Maruti Suzuki is also expected to introduce an automatic transmission at a later stage, preferably a CVT transmission that is also available on the Baleno. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Pricing – While the 2017 Maruti S-Cross is priced in Italy between INR 14 lakh to INR 21 Lakh, the prices in India will be comparatively lower as the car will be manufactured locally and come devoid of the AllGrip AWD system. We expect Maruti Suzuki to price the 2017 S-Cross facelift between INR 8 lakh to INR 11 lakh (Ex-showroom).
