Putting an end to all the anticipation, Skoda Auto India has today launched the 2017 iteration of its luxury sedan, the Octavia in India at a starting price of INR 15.49 lakh. The 2017 Skoda Octavia comes with a number of aesthetic alterations over the previous model along with subtle mechanical changes as well. With all the changes done to the vehicle, it now boasts of a more premium profile and promises to offer something different to the buyers in executive sedan segment. In its 2017 iteration, the Skoda Octavia now comes with a completely remodeled front-facia; here the sedan gets new quad headlamps, featuring LED DRLs. The front bumper has been tweaked as well to provide the car with a slight sporty look. That said, apart from this, there is not much which differentiates the 2017 Skoda Octavia with the previous iteration. The side profile continues to come with the automaker’s signature bold character lines, similar ones which we see on its other products like the Superb and the Kodiaq SUV. However, with the 2017 model, Skoda has now introduced 17-inch alloy wheels instead of 16-inch ones available on the previous gen model. When talking about the interiors of the Skoda Octavia facelift, these are to feature major changes. For the infotainment purposes, the Octavia is to get a 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, This one is going to be available with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity WLAN hotspot and even a SIM card module with LTE connectivity. 2017 Skoda Octavia features heated steering wheel option, folding tables for rear passengers and center armrest with cup storage making it one of the most luxurious vehicle in its range. Talking about the engine specifications of the Skoda Octavia facelift, they are to remain the same as before. The sedan will continue to be powered by same set of petrol as well as diesel engines. The petrol derivative is to get the same 1.4-litre and 1.8-litre units while the diesel motor is to be the same 2.0-litre unit. The power generation capabilities of these engines respectively stands at 148Bhp, 171Bhp and 141Bhp respectively. The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and a 7-speed automatic gearbox.
The sedan comes with a long list of safety features, middle variants are to come with 6-airbags with ABS and EBD, while the top of the line version are to come with up to 8 airbags.
