2018 Audi A8 makes its global debut; India launch on the cards as well

The next-generation iteration of Audi's flagship product, the new 2018 A8 has made its first official world debut. German automaker is expected to launch the same in India soon.

The latest iteration of Audi’s flagship product, the 2018 A8 sedan has now made its global debut. Unveiled at an event in Barcelona, this is the fourth-generation A8 sedan and is to go on sale during the year 2018 in the international markets, with its also likely to arrive on the Indian shores soon. Apart from featuring a completely new exterior and interior profile, the 2018 Audi A8 comes with Audi AI, which is an artificial intelligence based software, to be responsible for the car’s self-driving tech. The fascinating fact about the AI is that it offers ‘Level 3’ self-driving capability where the car can take full control with not inputs required from the driver. The new 2018 Audi A8 will be offered with two versions, a standard one which is 5.17 meters long and the A8L which gets an extra 13-centimeters long wheelbase. The exterior profile comes with Audi’s signature futuristic design with bold character lines. The cabin of the Audi A8 comes with a host of creature comforts and features. The centre console is free of buttons and dials and only comes with a big touchscreen infotainment system. The new Audi A8, in the German car market comes with two V6 turbo engines, a 3.0-litre TDI diesel motor and a 3.0-litre TFI unit. The former churns out 286Bhp with the later producing 340Bhp. Also on offer will be two 8-cylinder engines, a 4.0-litre TDI and a 4.0-litre TFI capable of producing 435bhp and 460Bhp respectively. The top of the line versions will get a 6.0-litre W12 motor. All of these 5 engines are available with the automaker’s mild-hybrid tech. The new Audi A8 is to follow soon with plug-in Hybrid avatar as well.
