Hyundai Motor India Ltd. will be launching the i20 facelift in India this year. The 2018 Hyundai i20 is expected to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in Delhi-NCR. That said, a new report from Autocar suggests that Hyundai will showcase the new i20 Facelift with a new CVT (continuously variable transmission) automatic transmission, mated to a 1.2-litre petrol unit at the Auto Expo. Moreover, the company will also discontinue the existing 1.4-litre petrol variant that comes mated to a 4-speed AT torque converter unit. The 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 facelift should go on sale in India in the second half of this year. The report further claims that the AT variant will come without paddle shifts at launch, however, it could be launched in the future. Currently, the Hyundai i20 AT is only available with the 1.4-litre petrol engine, which was introduced in September 2016. However, the AT variant is available only in the Magna trim and is overpriced as compared to the Maruti Baleno Alpha CVT. The higher pricing is a result of the higher GST rates applicable on sub-4m cars with petrol engines above 1200cc. The new Hyundai i20 1.2-L petrol with CVT gearbox will help the company to compete with the rivals in a better way. Apart from the petrol engine, the new i20 Facelift will continue to get the 1.4-litre diesel engine that produces 89 BHP of power and 220 Nm of peak torque. This engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Also Read: New Hyundai Santro 2018 (Hyundai AH2) Images Emerge Also Read - New Hyundai Santa Fe 2018 showcased at Geneva Motor Show 2018

In terms of design, the new i20 facelift will get cosmetic updates to the exteriors. The most significant change will be the addition of the new ‘Cascade’ grille along with new bumper and slightly tweaked headlamps. The car will get new alloy-wheels, redesigned LED taillights and a new rear bumper. The new Hyundai i20 Facelift will compete against the Maruti Baleno and the Honda Jazz.
