Mercedes-Benz, a popular German luxury car maker is all set to launch all-new avatar of its flagship model – Mercedes-Benz S-Class in the domestic market today. Referred as one of the most luxurious cars from Mercedes’ stable, the luxury sedan will be manufactured at company’s facility in Pune which is the only S-Class producing unit outside Europe. The sedan will sport cosmetic updates on the inside as well as inside along with all-new powertrain option. When launched, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be the first Mercedes diesel saloon to get BS-VI compliant engine in the domestic market. Recently, the German car maker launched the new Mercedes-Benz S 560 and S 650 models at the Auto Expo 2018 with a price of INR 1.94 crore and 2.73 crore (Ex-Showroom). As far as the power specifications are concerned, the all-new 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be offered in both petrol and diesel versions. The petrol mill will be a 3.0-litre V6 unit which will be seen on the line-up along with the V8 petrol that also powers the S500. Both the units will be couple to automatic transmissions that will transmit power to the rear wheels. The diesel engine, on the other hand, will be all-new in-line 6-cylinder unit which will be a BS-VI compliant that can easily produce maximum power of 286bhp against the peak torque of 600Nm. On the exterior front, the new S-Class now will sport a new front profile featuring new bumper, wider grille, revamped headlights with LED DRLs, new adaptive intelligent LED headlamps, new alloy wheel design, tweaked tail light design, new rear bumper and much more. As the body shell of the S-Class remains the same, the side profile is expected to be the same as that of the outgoing model. Inside the cabin, the all-new S-Class will continue to sport luxury appeal with the cabin featuring new improvements and new features. It will now carry a bigger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, new lighting options, 4-zone climate control system, wooden inserts to raise the appeal of the cabin, leather upholstery, ventilated seats with body-massage functions, electrically operated seats, panoramic sunroof and more. Coming to the price point, the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is expected to carry a price tag in between INR 1.2 crore to INR 1.4 crore (Ex showroom) for the entry level variant as the fact that the government has increased the tax on components which will impact the pricing of the new S-Class. Once launched in the country, the all-new S-Class 2018 will compete against the likes of the BMW 7 Series, Jaguar XJ L, Audi A8 and Lexus LS. Watch the LIVE Stream here.
