Indian National Autocross Championship 2016 which is organized by Maruti Suzuki India has commenced today with a positive note in Gurgaon at Leisure Valley Ground which will be a 3-day event that will be proffering motor enthusiasts with perfect opportunity to experience adrenaline rush and dust storms. More than 300 auto enthusiasts participating in the event across the country, this three day event will be testing the skills of the driver. This Championship is derived as country’s biggest entry level motorsport event wherein participants across the nation participate to experience the adrenaline rush. An autocross participant only needs a car from any manufacturer and skill set to take on any track. The autocross intends to test the skills of the driver and vehicle handling capabilities rather than speed. Autocross championships are conducted under the approval of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of India and under the watchful eyes of appointed Safety Stewards. The strict adherence to rules and safety guidelines makes this one of the safest motorsports activities possible. The track is specially designed to limit the speed of the cars and in case of an untoward incident emergency services including a fully equipped Ambulance is available at all times.
Post the fifth round of the championship in Gurgaon from 6th to 8th January 2017 the event will extend to Mumbai and Jaipur with the grand finale culminating in Delhi-NCR. For city rounds registrations will be carried out at the time of event too at very minimal registration fee. The championship in 2016 will see the champions from southern India compete with champions from north India for the coveted national title. In addition to the two zones, there will be an additional round at Mumbai. Points of this round will count towards either the North or the South depending on the competitor's zone selection. The top 4 point holders of each zone from each class will be eligible to participate in a finale which will be held in Noida.
