Actor Christian Bale to Don the Role of Legendary Carmaker Enzo Ferrari

One cannot deny the fact that Hollywood actor Christian Bale is one of the best actors in the Industry. Bale is especially known for his knack to get into his character’s shoes, be it the superhero Batman, Prophet Moses or a real life character like FBI Special Agent Melvin Purvis. So when it comes of playing one of greatest names of the automotive industry – Enzo Ferrari – then there are very few actors who can do it better than Christian Bale.

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann, the shooting of the new ‘Ferrari’ Movie will only begin next summer, but Bale has already agreed to play the role of the iconic Italian car magnet. Earlier it was acclaimed actor Robert De Niro was believed to play Enzo Ferrari in a big biopic, but it seems that wasn’t the case.

 

According to reports director Mann has been working on the project for more than 15 years now and it is essentially a passion project for him. The film is set around the year 1957, which was one of the most crucial times for Enzo Ferrari. Ferrari was well established at this time as producing world-beating racing cars.  

 

It was during that time when a Ferrari 335S lost a tire while running the Mille Miglia and was sent into the crowd, killing both the driver and passenger along with nine spectators. Enzo Ferrari, along with the company that produced the tire, were charged and tried with manslaughter. However the case was ultimately dismissed four years later.

 

Born in 1898, Enzo Anselmo Ferrari founded the iconic automobile brand back in 1918 and was at the crest of his empire up until his death in 1988.
