Maruti Suzuki has replaced India’s largest selling car, the Alto, with the all-new Alto 800. Launched at an introductory price of Rs 2.44 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi), this latest small car is Maruti’s take on those looking to upgrade from two-wheelers to a cheap and cheerful small car.
Designed and developed in-house over a period of 4 years, the Alto 800 picks up where the older, iconic Alto left off. Now available in both petrol and CNG versions, the Alto 800 range includes four variants – Standard, LX, LXi and LXi with Airbag.

For the Alto 800, Maruti Suzuki has retained the same 3-cylinder, 800cc F8D unit albeit with a few tweaks to improve refinement levels and drivability. The engine produces 50PS of power and 69Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The previous Alto for known for being high on fuel efficiency and if we go by the numbers, the Alto 800 doesn’t disappoint. Maruti claims an efficiency of 22.74 kmpl for the petrol version and 30.46 km/kg for CNG.
