Audi Q7 SUV 2015: Second generation Audi Q7 may cost more than current model
The Audi Q7 was probably one of the most popular luxury SUVs to be launched by the German carmaker and Audi hopes to achieve the same success with its 2nd gen Q7. Maybe that why the carmaker and left no stone unturned to make the new Audi Q7 much more sleeker, lighter and faster than its predecessor. Moreover the 2015 Q7 is based on the new MLB platform, which adds a longer list of equipment and technology. But with the premium additions comes a premium price tag and if reports are to be true than the 2015 Audi Q7 SUV is likely to be more expensive than the current outgoing model.

In terms of engineering, one of the most significant changes in the second generation 2015 Audi Q7 is the drastically reduced weight, apparently making the SUV 325kgs lighter compared to the outgoing model. The engineers at Audi were able achieve this mainly due to the use of ultra high strength steel and aluminium. Additionally the 2015 Q7 has been designed based on the company’s MLB (Modular Longitudinal Matrix) platform, furthermore enhancing the overall mechanism of the SUV.
On design front the 2015 Q7 sports Audi’s new design philosophy which now sees its cars moving away from rounded edges to sharper features. The exterior styling incorporates a smart squarish stance and neat straight lines unlike the intimidating looks of the previous model. As for the inside Audi has borrowed quite some features form it sedans, adding to the comfort level. The centre console holds a 12.3 inch screen replacing the instrument cluster.
As for its power plant, the new 2015 Audi Q7 is likely to be offered in both diesel and petrol variants. The diesel variant sports a 3.0-litre TDI engine under the hood, which boosts 32PS of more power, giving you an overall output of 276PS and a peek torque of 600Nm. Moreover Audi claims that the car can do a 0-100 kmph sprint in 6.3 seconds and also offer an increased fuel efficiency of 28%. As for the petrol variant the new Q7 will pack a 3.0-litre TFSI engine churning out 338PS of power and 700Nm of torque, which take you from 0-100kmph in 6.1 seconds. Both the engines will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and will come with Quattro all-wheel drive system as standard.
With the addition of such excusive feature, Audi India will substantially price the new 2015 Audi Q7 at a much premium price point compared to the current roll-outs that come at a starting price of 64.71 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Upon its launch in India the new Q7 will be going up against the likes of BMW X5, the new Mercedes GL-Class, and the upcoming Volvo XC90.
