Audi to launch RS6 Avant tomorrow: Get expected price, features and specifications

Country’s luxury car leader - Audi India is all set to launch the new 2015 RS6 Avant in India tomorrow. This will be Audi’s third all-new product to be launched in India this year. Designed based on the popular Audi A6 Sedan, the RS6 Avant is a performance-heavy station wagon and the first of its kind to be launched in India. India has traditionally not been a station wagon market so as of now the Audi RS6 Avant will be the sole player in the Luxury car segment. As for its price tag, we are expecting a price point close to INR 1 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).

As most of Audi niche segment cars, even the RS6 Avant will be sold in India as Completely Built Units (CBU). With India being an unpredictable market for station wagons, the initial number of units allocated for our country will be quite limited.

Coming to the car itself, under the hood the new Audi RS6 Avant is likely to receive a 4.0-litre TFSI V8 engine that is capable of producing a massive power output of 567 PS and a peek torque of 700 Nm. This engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which sends the power to all-four-wheels via Audi's Quattro AWD system. And to give you an idea about its performance capabilities, the Audi RS6 Avant has a top speed of 304 kmph and can do a 0 – 100 kmph sprint in less than 4-seconds.

Additionally, the RS6 Avant comes with Audi’s valvelift cylinder-on-demand technology. What does it do? Well, simply put the engine will mainly operate only four of its cylinders, while the additional two cylinders of the intake and exhaust valves will shut when not needed. What this basically translates into is that the engine will be a little more economic in terms on fuel usage. What's more is that the car comes with an engine start and stop feature, which further acts in its favour.

As we mentioned earlier, the RS6 Avant is a station wagon derivative of the A6, so in design it would look quite similar to the sedan. Though you’ll find the same stylish and aggressive front fascia, the grille pattern has been changed. Moreover it will also come with Audi's new matrix LED lighting system.

The RS6 has its own unique attribute too, and they can be majorly seen once you come towards the rear end of the car. At the back you have the very prominent station wagon style extended rear and with the additional structural modifications, you’ll find a new D-Pillar, which are commonly a part of station wagons. Also at the rear we have horizontal LED tail lamps and the dual tailpipes with chrome garnishes.
