Audi unveils the A8 Hybrid
Audi’s flagship luxury sedan could return up to 14 kmpl with new hybrid powertrain

Back at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, Audi had revealed an A8 Hybrid Concept that claimed to be ‘the efficiency standard’ if it ever went into production. Looks like Audi was serious. The blokes at Ingolstadt have managed to put together a production-spec hybrid powertrain that helps the colossal, feature-packed, luxury-oozing A8 travel 14 kilometers to a litre of petrol – that’s almost the same fuel economy your puny Swift petrol returns in the real world!

The A8 Hybrid makes use of 2.0 TFSI petrol engine and a 54 hp electric motor which produces a combined power output of 245 PS and a torque of 480 Nm. Apart from the notable fuel economy, the A8H can also three kilometres at 60 km/h on battery power alone. The A8H is expected to launched across Audi showrooms by 2012 – which is the fifteenth anniversary year of the Toyota Prius!
