New details are starting to surface on Volkswagen’s recent takeover of Porsche and how the deal has brought the focus back on the former’s MSB (Modular Standard Architecture). Based on the MSB architecture, Porsche is said to be currently working on an all-new platform which will underpin upcoming Bentley models (one of twelve brands under the VW umbrella)

This new platform is likely to make use of weight-saving steel and aluminum bits, thus keeping the excess flab in check while improving structural rigidity. The interesting bit of the MSB platform is that it is quite a flexible system and can be used for a wide range of high-performance models and the engine can be mounted in the front, mid or at the back of the vehicle.

Aside from an all-new platform, Volkswagen is also said to be developing an all-new V12 engine for the British luxury carmaker which will replace the aging 6.75-litre V8 by somewhere around next year.
