BMW India to launch facelifted 5-Series GT and M5 next year

Expect the updated models to arrive early next year. 

Just yesterday, BMW India added the facelifted 5-Series to its lineup. However, with only diesel-powered variants in the offering, the brand is gunning for a different approach in competing in the ever-rising premium executive sedan segment. Enthusiasts needn’t worry though: BMW India will soon pack in plenty of zest into the run-of-the-mill 5-Series range with the uber-luxurious GT version and the brutally quick M5 sports sedan.

BMW has given the facelifted 5-Series GT or Gran Tourismo, a quick nip and tuck with the updated front-end comprising of new air-intakes, more prominent chrome lining and new fog-lamps. At the back, the most prominent change is the new boot-lid. It protrudes further outward to make the flow of the coupe roofline appear better. The protruding design has helped increase the capacity of the boot – up from 440-litres to 500-litres.

Like the 5-Series GT, the facelifted M5 too features subtle design tweaks to the exteriors design. Upfront, there’s a redesigned grille with larger vertical slats finished in gloss black. The adaptive LED headlights, too, and feature what BMW calls ‘thin blade technology’. As for the side profile and the rear-end, the most prominent update can be found in the form of a new set of 20-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the only noticeable upgrade is the all-new, sportier looking steering wheel.

Firepower remains the same as before with the 4.4-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 powering this high-performance model. Putting out 550PS of power, the M5 remains as one of the most powerful four door sedans on sale.
