BMW India has been shuffling around with its and added a new engine option to the X1 compact SUV in the Indian market. The X1 has been around in India for at least 5 years now and its second generation made its way to the dealerships in the 2016 Delhi Auto expo.
The German manufacturer has added the 2.0 litre petrol engine to the xLine variant and is priced at INR 35.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The sDrive20i is powered by a 1998 cc, 4-cylinder twin power turbo motor which develops 189 bhp of max power @ 5,000 rpm and 280 Nm of peak torque @ 1,250-4,600 rpm. This engine is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic Automatic Sport gearbox which delivers precise gear shifts with its paddle shifters while the launch control will never leave one wanting for performance.
In terms of equipments, the BMW xDrive20i has a similar list as that of the top diesel xLine model. It comes with LED headlamps with DRLs, cornering lights, LED taillights, dual zone climate control on the inside, electrically adjustable driver and passenger seats, panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting along with 6.5 inch BMW iDrive infotainment system in center.
In terms of safety, petrol version of the BMW xDrive20i is equipped with 6 airbags, ABS with brake assist, rear view camera with parking sensors, dynamic stability control, dynamic traction control and ISOFIX seat mounts. BMW is also offering the attention assist in India which analyses if the driver is lacking concentration during driving and prevents any mishaps.
