Audi reveals Q3 crossover ahead of Shanghai Motor Show

You weren’t too charged up about the Shanghai Motor Show, were you? Well, now you have a reason to be, for the cheapest Audi you can buy is making an appearance! Audi has taken the wraps off the new Q3 compact crossover before its public unveiling in Shanghai. Based on the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Audi Q3 is a premium SUV offering on a compact platform, replete with trademark Audi features like the gaping grille, sloping roofline, steeply raked rear hatch, LED lighting all around etc.

The Q3 is a very important vehicle for India as it is definitely coming here to take on the BMW X1. Which means, with a X1 rivalling price tag, the Q3 will become the cheapest Audi you can buy in India. Audi will be introducing three engine options in the Q3, a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol mill and two derivatives of a 2.0-litre TDI engine in varied states of tune. However, considering India’s affinity to diesels, we expect the Audi Q3 2.0 TDI with 140PS on tap to be the initial choice for the India launch. 

The Audi Q3 measures 14.4 x 6 x 5.25 feet and packs in luggage space ranging from 460 litres to 1365 litres (with the seats folded). That is almost 25% lesser than what you get in Honda CR-V. But buying an Audi in the price of a CR-V will be a lucrative option in the Indian scheme of things and if the success of the Q7 and Q5 are anything to go by, the Q3 will be one hot seller!
