Caterham shows off motorsport-inspired Aero Seven sports car
Production of this new high-performance model will begin next year.

Just ahead of this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix, Caterham has taken the wraps off the all-new Aero Seven which will go into production in 2014.
Caterham, known for its lightweight track-focused sports cars, has announced that the Aero Seven displays brand’s new design and engineering philosophy which will make its way into their future models.
Based on an updated version of the Seven CSR’s chassis, the Aero Seven features fully independent rear and pushrod front suspension coupled with new dampers, springs and anti-roll bars. Power comes courtesy of a Ford-derived 2-litre, 4 cylinder naturally aspirated engine. Producing over 230PS of power, this high-revving engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox which sends power to the rear wheels.

The Aero Seven is the first Caterham to be equipped with launch control and fully adjustable traction control system. The brand is also looking to add a race-derived anti-lock braking system from Bosch for the production models. In true Caterham fashion, the Aero Seven is extremely light, weighing around 600kg.

The Aero Seven features two driving modes – Race and Road. Both the settings can be controlled via a steering-mounted button. In Road mode, peak power is restricted using a rev limiter while Race mode enables the driver to use the full potential of the power-train.
