Codemasters announced their new installment called Dirt Showdown

When Codemasters launched their iconic Dirt franchise it was immediately a big hit over other rally games. It brought a new level of fun while maintaining the technicalities of a rally-sim. Then came Dirt 2 which ticked all the right boxes to become one of the best rallying game ever made. But things changed with Dirt 3 when Codemasters inclined the game more towards simulation than arcade fun. Many gamers therefore, criticized Dirt 3 for being too technical and boring like most of the other rally-sims in the market. Codemasters seems to have taken the criticism well though and has announced yet another installment in the Dirt franchise.

Called Dirt Showdown, this game is not about hardcore rallying but about the arcade fun around it! It mixes the best of the earlier Dirt games and brings together Gymkhana events, destruction derby and tons of multiplayer options – all under one roof. Looks like Codemasters is following EA’s Need-For-Speed footsteps and branching out into two types of racing / rallying titles – one that will satisfy the simulation fans and the other that will provide pure arcade fun to the casual gamers.
