The Jeep Compass SUV set to compete with the Hyundai Tucson and to be priced in the bracket of INR 18 lakh to 22 lakh is all set to launch in India during the month of August this year. The American automaker recently unveiled the India spec version of the Compass manufactured locally at Fiat Chrysler’s Pune plant. Ahead of its much anticipated debut, the Compass has been spotted doing its testing rounds once again in the city of Pune thanks to our reader Palak Sinha. The test mule spotted is highly camouflaged, revealing little to no details about this upcoming SUV. That said, the details regarding the exterior profile of the Jeep Compass are already know to us as they were revealed at the unveiling of the SUV. The Compass gets visual aesthetics which take quite a lot of inspiration from its elder brother, the Grand Cherokee. Compass gets muscular character lines, swelled wheel arches, clamshell bonnet, signature Jeep grille, skid plates, LED projector headlamps, circular halogen fog-lamps, LED tail-lamps among the others. Not much details regarding the exact specifications and design of the Jeep Compass have been revealed by the automaker. What we know so far from various spy shots is that the colour scheme is to be primarily black in nature along with silver accents thrown into the mix. The material quality is going to be premium while at the same time being durable. Compass’s cabin will be loaded up to the brim with a number of features and creature comforts. All of this included, it does not mean that the India bound Jeep Compass will be a tamed urban commuter. Jeep is going to equip the compass with it tried and tested 4-wheel drive system which makes this SUV capable of tackling all sorts of terrains. The SUV will be made available in both petrol as well as diesel guises. The former is powered by a 1.4-litre engine churning out 160Bhp of power while the latter gets a 2.0-litre engine sourced from Fiat which is capable of producing 170bhp of power. Talking about the prices, the Jeep Compass is expected to fall in the range of INR 18 lakh to 22 lakh, this will make it compete against the likes of Hyundai Tucson.
