Fiat invests nearly 1800 crores to launch Jeep brand in India

Recently a huge surge of global automotive brands have entered the Indian automotive market. And the reason is because experts believe that India will be the third largest auto market after China and the US by 2020. A testament to that is the recent entry of global marques like Ducati and Ferrari, which are rooting themselves in the growing Indian market. And apparently the next in line is Jeep.

Fiat is expected to launch Jeep’s premium SUVs Cherokee in this fiscal which will be followed by the Wrangler and an all-new SUV codenamed 554 and in subsequent fiscal. Reports also indicate that the automaker recently patented the Renegade in India.

Like Fiats other products the Jeep 554 SUV will be manufactured in collaboration with Tata Motors at their Ranjangaon plant near Pune. The facility will also be manufacturing Tata’s upcoming SUVs Q501 and Q502 along with Jeep 554 SUV. All the three SUVs will be powered by Fiat’s 2.0-litre Multijet diesel engine, which will be locally manufactured by Tata Motors and Fiat.
