Like many car makers in India, Ford Motor Co. announced a few months back that it will setup an automobile and engine manufacturing plant in Sanand, Gujarat. Now, on 5th September 2011, Ford India has broken ground at the proposed land in Gujarat to announce the commencement of the construction of their new facility. Ford is investing close to $ 1-billion for setting up the plant in Sanand, Gujarat. The plant aims to produce 240,000 vehicles and 270,000 engines per year once it fully operational by 2014.
