Ford India reports 14% decline in July Sales: Pins hopes on upcoming Figo Aspire

Ford India, one of the leading automakers in India recently reported 14.17 per cent decline in total sales at 13,116 units for the month of July. The company has sold 15,282 units the same month last year in July 2014.

Ford India's domestic sales were at 4,362 units last month, down 42.54 per cent from 7,592 units a year ago, the company said in a statement. It said exports during the month stood at 8,754 units as compared to 7,690 units in July 2014, up 13.83 per cent.

 

Commenting on their performance, Anurag Mehrotra, executive director Marketing, Sales and Service at Ford India, said, “We are excited to usher in the next phase of growth for Ford in India as we gear up to introduce three new products in next nine months, beginning with the much appreciated compact sedan Figo Aspire.”

 

Talking about the car he said that Ford’s all new Figo Aspire compact sedan will go on sale in the middle of August, which is likely to bring in more customers to the Ford family. Coming to the car itself, the Ford Figo Aspire is one of the best compact sedans to launch in India when it comes to its on paper features. Offering some of the class-leading features in the segment the Aspire will also be the only compact sedan to offer six airbags. (In the top-of-the-line variant)


The Figo Aspire comes in three engine options – a 1.5-litre Ti-VCT motor that produces 112PS of peak power and 136Nm of peak torque, a 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine churning out 88PS of power and 112Nm of peak torque. While the former is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox, the 1.5L unit is coupled to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic. The 1.5-litre oil burner TDCi unit producing 99bhp of power and 215Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
