Ford India‘s sales for the month of June 2017, stood at a cumulative of 20,848 units. Out of this, the units sold in the domestic market for June 2017 reached 6,149 units, a de-growth from the last year’s 9,469 units. However, the exports for the American automaker grew. In June 2017, Ford exported 14,679 units, as against 10,285 units it exported during the same month last year. With the GST (Goods and Service Tax) Bill in effect, the prices of the entire product portfolio of Ford India has been reduced, due to this the sales are expected to increase in the coming days. Currently, included in Ford India’s portfolio are small cars like the Figo hatchback, Figo Aspire compact sedan and the EcoSport compact SUV. Other products include the big and brawny Endeavour and the muscle car, Mustang. For the segment of small cars, the tax now to be levied is 29 percent, as against the earlier 31.2 percent. This has resulted in the drop of price for these cars by about INR 5,000 to INR 22,000. For the Endeavour, is now to be warranted with a tax rate of 43 percent, against the earlier 55 percent. This has resulted in a decrease in prices for this SUV in the range of INR 1.5 lakh to 3 lakh, depending upon which city you buy it from. GST is a step in the right direction, and expected to strengthen economic growth, said Anurag Mehrotra, managing director, Ford India. Leading up to this biggest tax reform, the month of June saw moderated wholesales as the industry looked to protect itself from the possible impact.
