Frankfurt Motor Show 2017: Honda CR-V Hybrid and 2018 Honda Civic Diesel Unveiled

Honda, a popular Japanese car maker also participated at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show for showcasing its upcoming cars. The car maker showcased the highly awaited Honda CR-V hybrid prototype as well as Honda Civic diesel wherein the former is expected to hit the UK market next year. The prototype version does borrow styling elements from the regular CR-V, however, it will also sports new additional elements when launched. Talking more about Honda CR-V Hybrid, it comes equipped with an all-new Intelligent Multi Mode Drive (i-MMD) two-motor hybrid setup comprising of an electric motor and a 2.0-litre petrol engine, plus a separate electric motor generator. As per the reports, it is believed that this new system disposes a conventional gearbox in spite of a single-fixed gear ratio. Moreover, the company also showcased European-spec model of CR-V at the motor show. The model is powered by a 1.5-litre VTEC turbo petrol motor which is coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT unit. Coming to Honda Civic diesel, the 10th generation Honda Civic which has been put on show at the Motor Show gets an all-new 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine which has been reworked for more fuel efficiency and more power. The new diesel engine is capable of developing 118bhp and 300Nm of power figures along with fuel economy of 26 kmpl. As far as the performance aspect is concerned, the new Civic diesel is claimed to hit 100 kmph in just 10.4 seconds. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic unit.
