General Motors / Chevrolet today announced the recall of its popular Executive sedan – Cruze in India. This so called recall is a voluntary decision being taken on the behalf of the company to fix loss of ignition or engine stall at low vehicle speeds. The models affected by this recall refer to the ones manufactured between 2009 – 2011.
On this announcement, Markus Sternberg, Vice President – After sales, General Motors India commented, “We are committed to putting our customers at the center of everything we do and providing safe, high-quality vehicles. If we foresee a potential issue, we ensure that it is corrected as soon as possible, as part of our complete commitment to customer satisfaction. This is a voluntary recall and, as far as we are aware, does not affect the safety of the vehicle but we want to make sure that our customers experience the right performance from their vehicles”.
Said to be an easy fix, the cars so effected would be inspected first and then repaired all of which should not take more than hour. As per the company, the dealers located nearest to you would be getting in touch for the same giving those selected a prior appointment for a smooth and hassle free fix. Plus either the company or directly the dealer would be proving an optional pick up and drop to the customer's residential address so that they are not trouble too much by this recall. On the Contrary, Chevrolet Cruze was first launched back in 2008 and was amongst the attractive premium sedans of that time. It quickly gained popularity in India with a lot of buyers’ opting this particular car instead of its competition. Under the hood, the Chevrolet Cruze gets a 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out a massive 160Bhp of power along with 380Nm of peak torque. The transmission responsibilities are handled by a 5-speed manual transmission as standard while the top of the line variant comes mated to an automatic gearbox. This combination is enough to propel the car from a standstill to a 100kmph in just 9.7seconds, which is quite impressive for a car of this size.
