Armed with a Fiat-derived 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine putting out 90PS of power and 200NM of torque, the Vista D90 was introduced back in January this year and up until now, the performance-focused hatchback has managed to bring in decent sales numbers for Tata Motors. However, if recent reports are to be believed, the Vista D90’s sales run could be short-lived as Tata Motors is said to have discontinued the model. The company’s dealerships have reportedly started clearing the D90’s existing stock by luring buyers with heavy discounts. The news barely comes in as a big surprise as Tata Motors is readying a replacement model codenamed ‘Falcon 4’, spy shots of which have appeared on the internet time and again. With prices slightly higher than that of the existing Vista, the replacement model could be launched early next year after being shown at the 2014 Auto Expo. Given that Tata is focusing more on driving dynamics and performance above everything else, it will be interesting to see how this new model fares, especially when compared to dynamically well sorted cars like the Fiat Punto and the Maruti Suzuki Swift.
