Hero started its exclusive partnership with online shopping site Snapdeal last year during GOSF (Great Online Shopping Festival). It was the first domestic automotive brand to do so creating a whole new trend in the two-wheeler market, which was later followed by Mahindra bikes that partnered with Paytm.
“We partnered with Hero MotoCorp in December, 2014 to launch their motorcycles online. The response from our customers has been fantastic. I believe this hybrid model, where Snapdeal becomes the e-commerce platform for the wide dealership network will give a fillip to the two wheeler sales in India,” said Tony Navin, senior vice-president (electronics and home) at Snapdeal.
That is not all this success with online sales has prompted Hero MotoCorp to develop its very own online retail digital showroom that is likely to go live later this year, the likes of which was seen in 2014 auto Expo.
Commenting on the same a spokesperson from the company told Business Standard, “This is the first time we experimented with the online platform and the response has been phenomenal. We are developing our own online channel and experimenting with setting up a virtual showroom soon.”
