According to the data released for the month of June 2016 by Honda Cars India Ltd, their recently launched compact SUV BR-V, has managed to garner 11,000 bookings so far. The company says that this figure is more than what they have actually expected when they launched they the vehicle earlier this year. Honda was a little late as compared to other companies in bringing in their offering in the compact SUV segment in India but nevertheless, the vehicle has not failed in making its mark. The Honda BR-V is based on the same chassis as that of the Honda Mobilio MPV. In addition to this, it also borrows several designing cues from other Honda’s as well. However, the BR-V is longer in comparison to the Mobilio and boasts of design features which make it look more like an oversized MPV than a compact SUV. But there is no doubt about the fact that the BR-V is by far the most stylish, if not rugged looking compact SUV out of all the alternatives that are currently available in the market. The vehicle has slowly but surely climbing its way up the ladder in the past few months. In May we reported that the compact SUV has received a total number of 4,000 bookings which, as reported by us again reached to 10,000 booking by May 2016.
The Honda BR-V is priced at a base amount of INR 8.75Lakh (ex-showroom) with its top of the line model available at INR 12.90Lakh (ex-showroom). Under the hood, the BR-V comes with a choice of a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol or a 1.5-litre I-DTEC engine. Paired to both of these is a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard while the petrol powered vehicles can also be opted with a 6-speed CVT automatic gearbox as well.
