Honda, the Japanese automaker recently launched the highly anticipated compact SUV- the Honda BRV – in the Indian car market. The compact SUV is priced in the range of INR 8.75 lakh to INR 12.90 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. Bookings for the compact SUV have already started at a token amount of INR 21,000 while deliveries to commence soon. The company is also planning to launch the modified Mobilio MPV in the country in near future. Honda Cars India is also expanding the production capacity at Tapukar plant in Rajasthan to meet the rising demand for Amaze, Jazz and the recently launched BRV. From current 1.2 lakh units per year, the production at the plant will be increased to 1.8 lakh units per year. The Honda BRV compact SUV is the only car in its league to offer seat for seven adults. It directly rival against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. Based on the versatile Brio platform, the BRV is available in two engine options- 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the power to front wheels come as standard while a CVT automatic unit is offered in petrol only.
