Honda Motorcycle India reports 9% increase in sales for April 2015

Two-wheeler manufacturer Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has reported 9 per cent increase in total sales at 3,40,791 units in April. HMSI claims to be the “Highest Volume & Market Share gainer in April, 2015”. The company had sold 3,13,894 units in the corresponding month last year, HMSI said in a statement.

HMSI's motorcycle sales, however, declined marginally to 1,31,291 units last month from 1,31,377 units last year. The company's scooter sales jumped by 15.95 per cent to 1,97,801 units from 1,70,589 units in April 2014, it added. Exports declined by 1.91 per cent to 11,699 units against 11,928 units in the same month a year ago, it said.

In the month of April, Honda’s Domestic Market share went up by 2%, attaining 25.6%, while Domestic + Export market share reached 23.5% (3% up). Also, volume sales went up by 26,785 units (Dom+Exp) as compared to 57,697 units of industry sales that dropped.

On the occasion of Akshay Tritiya, HMSI Sales crossed 41,000 units on Akshay Tritiya in a single day, recording 50% sales growth YoY over last year. Also, in April, Honda inaugurated its 8th Traffic Training Park, its 1st in South India at Hyderabad, to spread the message of road safety among the masses.
