
Hyundai Creta- It is undoubtedly the most-awaited car of this year. Based on ix25 compact SUV (Available in China), the compact SUV will not be a sub-4 metre car. It will share engine specifications with the Verna sedan. While the petrol units could be a 1.4-litre dual VTVT and 1.6-litre motor, the oil burner could be a 1.4-litre U2 CRDi and a 1.6-litre U2 CRDi.

Maruti S-Cross– Buoyed by the positive response for Ciaz sedan, Maruti Suzuki is now ready to launch the S-Cross crossover in India to further strengthen its position in premium car segment. The vehicle will be offered with two diesel engine options- a 1.3-litre multi-jet and 1.6-litre multi-jet. While the former is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox, the 1.6L motor will be coupled to a six-speed gearbox.

2016 Ford Endeavour– The American automaker will launch the new generation Endeavour SUV as its second all-new product in India in 2015. The new model comes with a large ground clearance of 225mm, and is claimed to have a water wading depth of 800mm. The SUV will be offered with two diesel engines- 2.2-litre four-cylinder TDCi diesel and a 3.2-litre five-cylinder TDCi. It is equipped with a Terrain Management System with a new 4WD system and an Active Transfer Case.

2016 Toyota Fortuner– The Japanese automaker will unveil the new generation Innova and the Fortuner SUV at the 2016 Delhi Motor Show. The all-new Fortuner will get all-new ‘GD’ diesel engines a 2.4-litre and a 2.8-litre motors. Both engines are claimed to feature Economy with Superior Thermal Efficient Combustion (ESTEC) and a variable geometric turbocharger technologies.

Maruti Suzuki YBA– Interestingly, the country's largest carmaker is also working on a sub-4 metre compact SUV. Codenamed the YBA, the small SUV has already started testing on Indian roads. The vehicle will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol unit will be a 1.4-litre motor, the oil burner could be a 1.3-litre multi-jet unit.

Honda Brio 2SJ- Proving all the speculations right, Honda Car India has imported few units of Brio based SUVs in India for R&D purpose. Codenamed the 2SJ, the SUV is likely to be unveiled at the 2016 Delhi Motor Show. It will share engine specifications with the City sedan- a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel.

Nissan Kicks- Japanese automaker, Nissan is planning to introduce Kicks concept based compact SUV in India. The concept was showcased at the Sao Paulo Motor Show, while the production-spec model is expected to be unveiled at the 2016 Delhi Motor Show. The vehicle is likely to get the tried & tested 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine that also powers the Terrano.

Tata Nexon- Tata Motors, the homegrown automaker is ready to enter into a sub-4 metre SUV segment with Nexon SUV. Unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo as concept, the Nexon will be based on the modified X1 platform. The production spec model is likely to be unveiled at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The compact SUV will be made available in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the oil burner will be the Fiat's sourced 1.3-litre multi-jet unit, the petrol unit will be a 1.2-litre turbocharged REVOTRON motor.

Chevrolet Trailblazer- General Motors India has announced to launch the Chevrolet Trailblazer and Spin MPV in the Indian car market. The Trailblazer is full-sized seven-seater SUV, which will be offered with a powerful 2.8-litre diesel engine. This engine is good for 200bhp of power and 500Nm of torque.

Mahindra S101- The homegrown UV maker, M&M is also readying a series of new UVs for the Indian car market. Codenamed the S101, the mini-SUV is expected to be the cheapest SUV in India. This six-seater SUV will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options.

Mahindra U301- Not just S101, the homegrown automaker is also working on an all-new sub-4 metre SUV, Codenamed the U301. It is expected to be offered in multiple body styles including a five-seater SUV and seven-seater MPV.
