Hyundai Motors India Ltd. is planning to strengthen its market share in India as it is facing stiff competition from Maruti Suzuki in the small and premium hatchback segment. After successfully transforming the company into a modern premium brand, its Elite i20 premium hatchback has seen stiff competition from the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. To negate this effect, Hyundai will soon launch the MY2017 Hyundai Elite i20 in India, which will come with updates features list and new variants. According to Team-Bhp, Hyundai India will introduce a new ‘Asta Dual Tone’ variant on the Elite i20 while other trim levels will be updated with few new features.

According to the report, the car will continue to get the same set of features in the base Era variant, while the Magna variant will be renamed as Magna Executive with few features removed like keyless entry, rear parcel tray and headlamp escort function. On the other hand, the Sportz variant will lose out on rear parking sensors and reverse parking camera. Furthermore, the Asta variant misses out on features like automatic headlamps, diamond cut alloy wheels and chrome exterior door handles. That said, the Asta variant will get new features like a new 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system with support for Mirror Link, reverse camera, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Interestingly, the Hyundai will introduce a new Asta Dual Tone variant with optional ‘Style Package’. The new variant gets a dual-tone paint scheme with white & red body colours along with blacked out roof, new 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and black interior scheme with orange highlights. The Hyundai Elite i20 is powered by a set of petrol and diesel engine options. While the 1.2-litre petrol unit develops 82 BHP & 115 Nm of power, the 1.4-litre units produces 99 BHP of power and 132 Nm of torque, mated to an automatic gearbox. The diesel variant gets a 1.4-litre unit that produces 89 BHP of power and 220 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The Elite i20 is priced in the range of INR 5.65 lakh to INR 9.07 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
