Hyundai i30 Fastback makes it’s world premier; India launch could be on the cards

The Hyundai i30 Fastback is a first for the South Korean automaker in the compact segment and is derived out of the i30 Hatchback with a number of unique features.

Hyundai Motors, the Korean automobile giant has unveiled a new model, called the i30 Fastback. Derived out of the i30 hatchback, the Fastback will make it to it’s European launch soon with the rest of the world getting the vehicle withing a year. However, whether or not the Hyundai i30 Fastback will make it to its India launch remains to be seen. Nevertheless, talking about the vehicle, despite it’s compact dimensions, it comes with a rather attractive exterior profile. The front resembles quite a lot to the i30 hatchback. The entire aesthetic profile of the i30 Fastback is reminiscent of Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy, giving the car with bold character lines which run from the front of the car to the back of it. The front grille of the Hyundai i30 Fastback is a tad lower in height in comparison to the i30 hatchback. Not only this, the air-intakes positioned on the bumper are significantly lower as well. The sweptback headlamps comes with LED DRLs and get a dark, blacked out treatment, providing the car with an attractive facia. Another prominent highlight of the i30 Fastback is that it gets roof-line which is 30mm lower than that of the hatchback, thereby increasing the car’s aerodynamic capabilities. To give the Fastback a bit more character, Hyundai has provided it with small boot-lid mounted spoiler. As far as the interiors of the Hyundai i30 Fastback go, there is a familiar air to them, something which we normally see in Hyundai cars. You get a streamlined dashboard and an all-black upholstery, complimenting which are the various silver highlights distributed across the cabin. For entertainment purposes, the Hyundai i30 Fastback gets an 8-inch infotainment system with touch inputs and connectivity through Apple Car Play and Android Auto. When it comes to safety, the Hyundai i30 Fastback is no slouch. Just like every other Hyundai which is out there, this one too is equipped right up to the brim with safety features. The i30 Fastback gets Autonomous Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Alert, High Beam Assist and Lane Keeping Assist. Also included in this list are Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC), Rear-Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Speed Limit Information Function (SLIF). Not only this, but the Fastback also offers Pedestrian recognition, though as an optional extra. Power to the Hyundai i30 Fastback comes from 1.4-litre turbocharged T-GDI petrol engine which pumps out 138Bhp of power and is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard while there is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic on offer as well. Apart from this, the i30 Fastback will also feature a 1.0-litre T-GDI turbocharged petrol engine which is good for 118Bhp of power and transfers it to the wheels with the help of a 6-speed manual transmission. At a latter stage, a 1.6-litre diesel engine, available in two guises of 108Bhp and 134Bhp will also be on offer.
