Toyota will introduce the new Innova and the Fortuner in the Indian car market next year. If reports are to be believed, the company will increase localisation level to price them competitive in the market. Instead of the current 2.5-litre and 3.0-litre diesel motors, the next MPV and SUV will feature newly developed 2.4-litre GD and 2.8-litre GD motors. Interestingly, both engines will be locally produced. These new motors are equipped with “Economy with Superior Thermal Efficient Combustion (ESCTEC)” and a variable geometric turbocharger. While the 2.4-litre GD motor is good for 160bhp and 400Nm of torque, the 2.8L engine produces 177bhp of power and 450Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic transmission options will be on offer.
