India-made Nissan Pixo (Suzuki A-Star) gets discontinued in UK

According to a report by Autocar UK, Nissan has decided to stop selling the Pixo in order to focus on its other lineup of small cars like the Micra, the Note and the Juke. The carmaker has reportedly said that it will stop taking orders for production once the existing orders are fulfilled.

Based on the Maruti Suzuki A-Star, the Nissan Pixo is made at the same production facility in India as the A-Star. While the Pixo has been axed, Suzuki has confirmed that the A-Star (Alto in UK) will continue to be made and sold until a replacement model arrives.

Unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, the Nissan Pixo has been on sale since then with prices starting at £6,000 (Rs 5.8 lakh) making it the cheapest car in the UK before Dacia introduced the Sandero.
