Jaguar Land Rover, a popular British car brand launched the XE sedan in the country last year at Delhi Auto Expo 2016. Since then, the XE sedan is offered in petrol version only. However, the car maker now seems to be quite keen witht the launch of diesel iteration of XE sedan as it has officially commenced the bookings for the the same with token amount of INR 2 lakh. Moreover, interested buyers can pre-book the diesel version at an authorised Jaguar retailers across India. With the launch of this new version, the company will target both petrol and diesel buyers with XE sedan. The XE sedan from the British car maker is the affordable diesel car from the stable of Jaguar which will be introduced in the country as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit. Under the hood, the all-new Jaguar XE diesel will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine which can develop max power of 177bhp. Moreover, the petrol version comes powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine. In terms of pricing, the petrol iteration of XE sedan is currently priced at INR 41.69 lakh (ex showroom, New Delhi) for the Pure variant, INR 43.69 lakh (ex showroom, New Delhi) for the Prestige variant and Rs 48.59 lakh (ex showroom, New Delhi) for the Portfolio variant. Rohit Suri, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL) said that, In the past one year, Jaguar XE has gained immense popularity and success in the Indian market and we are now pleased to offer the choice of diesel to our customers.
As far as the portfolio is concerned, Jaguar range in India comprises of F-TYPE sports car, XF sedan and XJ sedan which are priced at INR 1.26 crore, 47.7 lakh and 97.2 lakh respectively. (All prices ex-showroom Mumbai). In terms of competition, the all-new XE diesel sedan will go head-on against the likes of Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and Audi A4. The new XE diesel variant is expected to be priced in the range of INR 40 lakh – INR 45 lakh (ex-showroom).
