Jaguar XKR-S GT production run could be bumped to 50 units
As much as 50 units of the limited edition model could be built if there are enough takers.

When Jaguar pulled the wraps off its new XKRS-GT at the recently held New York Motor Show, the company had insisted that it will make just 30 examples of the most extreme version yet of the grand tourer. Also, we had guessed that it wouldn’t take long to sell out the 30 being made for the US and Canada. The XKR-S GT after all is one of the fastest Jaguars ever made. And as it turns out, we weren’t wrong.
In fact, just 24 hours after the XKR-S GT made its debut in New York, Jaguar chief Adrian Hallmark had declared that 20 additional cars will be made if there are enough takers. Mr. Hallmark was quoted saying, “It is possible the production run will reach 50. The initial cap was set to define the business case but, thankfully, there is room for more.”
The XKR-S GT is a track-bred, road going version of the standard XKR-S and is best described as the most extreme road-going XK till date. The car gets a fairly extreme aerodynamic package that includes a carbonfibre front splitter, rear diffuser and a massive rear wing. Mechanical upgrades include addition of carbon ceramic brakes, new steering and suspension setup with height-adjustable dampers.
Under the hood, the XKR-S GT gets the same 5-litre supercharged V8 engine as the standard XKR. The XKR-S GT however is 0.3 seconds quicker than the former in the 0-100kmph sprint. Jaguar says this new model is capable of hitting over 320kmph but is limited to close to 300kmph.
