Jeep India is all geared up for the launch of its third product, Jeep Compass which is slated to hit the domestic market on July 31. Previously, the American car maker has received over 1000 bookings in the initial phase of booking commencement. Moreover, going by the media reports it is believed that the premium SUV has now bagged close to 4000 bookings of which 60 percent constitutes for the top-end diesel versions. Likely to be priced somewhere in between INR 15 to INR 18 lakh (ex-showroom), the car maker will roll out the diesel derivative initially while the petrol iteration will follow later. The premium SUV will be pitted against the likes of Volkswagen Tiguan and Hyundai Tucson. Jeep Compass premium SUV is certainly the most anticipated vehicle for the fact that it will be the cheapest offering from Jeep in India. The car maker is also aggressively expanding sales network wherein the first dealership was inaugurated in Ahmedabad last year in September. Now, the Jeep India has more than 50 dealerships across the country of which majority of which are exciting Fiat dealerships. Under the hood, the new Jeep Compass will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options – 1.4-litre MultiAir turbocharged petrol and 2.0-litre Multijet II turbocharged diesel. The former is capable of developing 159.7 bhp of max power with peak torque of 250 Nm while the latter can develop 170.6 bhp and 350 Nm of power figures. Both the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and the petrol version also gets a 7-speed DCT option. Moreover, 9-speed automatic transmission option is also expected to seen in the diesel version on the later stage. The premium SUV will be equipped with the Jeep Active Drive four-wheel drive system with Selec-Terrain which will be seen only in the diesel version. The premium SUV will be offered in three grade levels – Sport, Longitude and Limited of which latter grade levels will also be available in optional sub-grades. On the exterior front, the main highlights on the all-new Jeep Compass are HID headlamps, LED tail lamps, black-coloured roof, 17-inch alloy wheels and much more. Feature-wise, the new Compass premium SUV will sport a 7.0-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, electric parking brake, rear camera and more.
