Jeep, an iconic American car brand launched the much awaited Jeep Compass premium SUV in India earlier this year in July. Rolled out at INR 14.95 lakh (ex-showroom), the company initiated the deliveries for the diesel derivative of Compass on August 6. The bookings for the petrol version kicked off in the month of June, however, the deliveries for the same will start around Diwali on wards. Moreover, the premium SUV has received an excellent response from the market and managed to gets 10,000 bookings within a month of its launch. The company will commence the deliveries for the petrol automatic fist as the fact that it is more in demand as compared to manual petrol. Thus, the company is aiming to keep the petrol automatic model on priority. This premium offering from Jeep India is manufactured at FCA’s facility in Ranjangaon for both domestic as well as exports. Moreover, the company has increased the production of the Compass SUV with 2 shifts working 6 days in order to meet the overwhelming market response. As a reminder, Jeep Compass is offered in 3 trim levels – Sport, Limited and Limited Option. The Jeep Compass is available in both options- wherein the petrol engine is a 1.4-litre MultiAir petrol unit which can develop 162 bhp of max power. On the other hand, the diesel version gets a 2.0-litre Multi-Jet diesel engine which is coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox only. It is also speculated that the company will soon launch the diesel automatic version of the SUV. Priced in the range of INR 15.07 lakh – INR 21.28 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai), the premium SUV takes on Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V, Volkswagen Tiguan & others in the segment.
