Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India has revealed that the Made in India Jeep Compass premium compact SUV has crossed over 25,000 production units in India. Furthermore, the company has also announced that the Compass has been the most awarded car in 2017. The SUV has received 26 automobile and technology awards in 2017 with 7 “Car of the Year” awards and 19 other awards in various categories. This also includes 15 “SUV of the Year” awards. FCA has also announced that the company has shipped over 5000 units of the Jeep Compass to various international right-hand drive markets, which include United Kingdom, Australia and Japan. The company started exporting the Compass from October 2017. The car is manufactured at the company’s Ranjangaon facility near Pune, with 65 per cent localization. Speaking about the success of the Compass, Mr. Kevin Flynn – President and Managing Director, FCA India, said, “We are incredibly proud to have won so many prestigious awards for the all-new Jeep Compass, within seven months of its market launch.

He further added, “Thanks must go not only to the judges, but also to the thousands of employees across India that have worked tirelessly to deliver the Compass – from research and development, quality, engineering, manufacturing and commercial operations. The Jeep Compass is available with two engine and gearbox options across three trim levels – Sport, Longitude and Limited – that are spread across 10 variants. The car gets a 2.0-litre MultiJet II turbo-charged diesel motor that produces 167 BHP of power and 350 Nm of peak torque. The petrol variant gets a 1.4-litre MultiAir turbo-charged unit that produces 161 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the petrol model also gets a 7-speed DDCT automatic transmission as an option.
