After launching Jeep Compass premium SUV in the country, Jeep India is readying itself to launch the AMT version of the premium SUV in the near future. With the excessive demand for Jeep Compass, the company has increased the production of the Compass SUV in order to meet the initial deliveries. Moreover, it was also speculated that Jeep would launch the Renegade SUV in India during the year 2018, however, the arrival of the SUV seems to have been delayed due to huge demand for Compass SUV. This affordable offering from Jeep which is expected to be priced around INR 10 lakh might hit the domestic market in 2019. Moreover, the SUV has been spied testing on India roads many times. Based on the SCA (Small Car Architecture) platform, the all-new Renegade SUV will share the platform with Fiat’s Punto and Linea. Just like the Compass, the Jeep Renegade will too be manufactured at Fiat Chrysler facility in Ranjangaon near Pune, helping it to be priced very competitively. The Jeep Renegade is to sport traditional Jeep features which give it a muscular and dominating exterior profile, something which Indian SUV buyer roots for. Not only this, it is expected that at the initial stage, the SUV will feature only a diesel engine. This power-house is to be a 2.0-litre unit made available in two states of tune of 138Bhp and 168Bhp. To add to the package and keeping true to Jeep’s legacy, the Renegade will be offered with both 4×2 and 4×4 drive-trains. Also, the Jeep Renegade will feature a host of creature comforts and features on-board. The SUV will feature a dual-tone dashboard and it is expected that the quality will be top-notch, to compete with the likes of the segment benchmark, Hyundai Creta. The Jeep Renegade will come with equipment like steering mounted controls, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, leather wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery in top-spec version and a host of other gizmos on board. The exact launch date of the Jeep Renegade has not been confirmed yet, but it can be speculated that the SUV’s first glimpse will be seen at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The automaker has already started testing the Renegade in India with several sighting till now. This SUV is going to be quite an important product for Jeep as the same will help it create a brand image of pocket friendly and practical vehicle that come associated with a legacy.
