BMW India's entry level luxury hatchback, the all-new 2013 BMW 1-Series is all set to make an entry onto the Indian shores, in just about few hours from now at an event that is slated to get underway in the city of Mumbai.

What we know so far is that the BMW 1-Series could be offered in two variants – the 116i (petrol) and the 118d (diesel). The petrol unit uses a 1.6-litre four cylinder engine that puts out 136 PS of power and 220 Nm of torque; while the 1-series diesel uses a 2.0-litre four cylinder engine that produces 143 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque. Both the engines are not only more powerful than their rivals, but they are also mated to a rear-wheel drive system that ensures more driving fun.

The BMW 1-series is expected to start under Rs 22 lakh and will compete with the likes of A-Class, B-Class, Volvo V40 Cross Country and Audi Q3S.
