2:34PM: The BMW 5 Series 2017 comes with a redesigned chassis, for intelligent lightweight engineering and clever weight distribution for spirited driving.

2:12PM: The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

2:08PM: The 2.0-litre petrol engine is capable of producing 252bhp along with 350Nm of peak torque. The 2.0-litre diesel engine churns out 190Bhp along with 400Nm of peak torque while the 3.0-litre diesel gives out 265Bhp along with 620Nm of peak torque.

2:00PM:  Talking in detail about the engine specifications of the BMW 5 Series; the sedan will be made available with a total of three different powertrain options; these include one petrol and two diesel units. The petrol engine is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder motor while the two diesel units are a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder and a 3.0-litre in-line 6-cylinder unit.

1:58PM: The 2017 5 Series comes with a 530-liters of boot-space. The space can further be increase by folding down the rear seats in a 40:20:40 ratio.

1:28PM: Price announced. The BMW 5-Series will retail at a starting price of INR 49.9 lakh with the top of the line version going for INR 61.3 lakh (ex-showroom).

1:14PM:  The BMW 5 Series will be made available with a total of three engines in India. These include one petrol and two diesel motors. There is a 2.0-litre diesel producing 187bhp, a 3.0-litre diesel churning out 262bhp and a 2.0-litre petorl giving out 248bhp. The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by an 8-speed automatic transmission.

1:11PM: In India, the sedan will come in a total of three variants, these are to include the Sport Line, Luxury Line and M-Sport.

1:08PM: In terms of in-car entertainment, the BMW 5-Series gets 16-speakers with 10-channel amplifier. Other options are also available.

The 5 Series now comes with a design that takes some of its inspiration from the bigger and plusher 7 Series sedan. This update gives the sedan a mature stance. The former gets a new 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder motor pumping out 248Bhp along with 349Nm of peak torque while the latter is a 3.0-litre, inline, 6-cylinder unit producing 335BHp along with 450Nm of peak torque.
