Mahindra, India's largest UV manufacturer with a market share of more than 40%, has today launched the much awaited Mahindra has today launched the new sub-compact SUV, the Mahindra NuvoSport. The SUV has been launched at a price of INR 7.35 lakh (ex-showroom Thane). The car is a facelift version of the Quanto which has now been renamed as NuvoSport. This is the second sub-compact SUV offering from Mahindra will rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport. The NuvoSport is designed and developed by the in-house design team of Mahindra while research and development was carried out at the Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai. The SUV gets a completely new design as againts the Quanto. The car gets new sweptback headlamps with LED DRLs that looks like an eyebrow, signature Mahindra grille while the muscular front bumper houses a wider air-dam and fog lamps. A hood scoop is present on the bonnet. The side profile gets character lines on the side, bulging wheel arches and plastic body cladding all along the bottom of the car. The rear section features a new rear spoiler.
Features list includes dual airbags, Bluetooth connectivity, touch-screen infotainment system, cruise control and an 8-way adjustable driver seat with lumber support. Safety features include a driver airbag as standard across trim levels whereas ABS with EBD and dual airbags is optional extra from the base variant itself. The top-end variant also gets rear parking sensors for added safety.
The Mahindra NuvoSport is powered by a 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces a maximum power of 72bhp and a peak torque of 180Nm in the eco mode, while in the power mode, the engine pumps out a maximum power of 100bhp of and a peak torque of 240Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional 5-speed AMT transmission.
