Mahindra and Mahindra is currently prepping up to launch the mid-life facelift avatar of the Scorpio in India. The launch of the same is expected to happen sometime during the festive season this year with the sightings of the test mule already begun. Now, thanks to Team BHP, certain spy shots of the Mahindra Scorpio 2-door pick-up truck have surfaced. The 2-door cab could be the next-generation Scorpio Getaway. However, the current generation Scorpio Getaway comes with a 4-door cab. What this indicates towards is that the next-generation Mahindra Scorpio Getaway could very well be made available in both 2-door and 4-door versions. The test mule spotted gets a front end which resembles quite a lot to the current generation Mahindra Scorpio. It could be the case that it gets the facia of the facelifted Mahindra Scorpio with redesigned bumper. The images show a single cab version of the Mahindra Scorpio with 2-doors and supporting a long storage bay. This version could be exclusively for commercial purposes, just like the Mahindra Bolero pick-up truck. The automaker could come with the 4-door cab for the urban buyers. Being a pick-up truck, the chassis of the Getaway will be slightly reworked. Talking about its engine specifications, it is to get BS-IV complaint 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. The oil burner will churn out 120Bhp along with 280Nm of peak torque. Though not confirmed, it is speculated that the pick-up could get the engine from the Mahindra XUV500 which pumps out 140bhp of power. Currently the market for pick-up trucks is not huge in India, apart from the rural and semi-urban settings. In the urban cities, the buyers of pick-up trucks remain very niche.
