Mahindra it seems has updated its hardcore off-roader Thar which now features a host of changes inside and out. According to a report from Autocar India, the company has carried out the updates to sort out a few niggles that customers complained about.

Mahindra Thar receives aesthetic and mechanical updates

First up, the company has a fitted a new cross bar between A and B pillar to improve the body’s rigidity. The report says that the old model’s B pillars have a tendency to ‘flex’ and hit the doors over bumpy roads. This update, as a result, should improve the overall rigidity of the bodyshell. Additionally, Mahindra has replaced the front axle’s auto locking hubs with a new, more reliable fixed flange setup meaning the front driveshafts are now engaged all the time.

Inside, the updated Thar comes with a number of improvements to make it more appealing.  The air-con switches, for instance, now come from the Bolero VLX utility vehicle. Furthermore, the rear seats have been lowered by around 6-7mm to improve headroom and the soft-top too, can be attached and detached in a much easier manner. Since most of these updates can be incorporated on the original Thar, existing customers can easily update their vehicles without much trouble.
