The new XUV500 facelift comes with a sleeker and more poised front fascia as compared to the beefy and rugged design of the older XUV500.
The front grille of the previous XUV 500 was plain and stocky with teeth like patterns. Whereas the new XUV 500 comes with new redesigned sharper saber tooth like pattern with stylish chrome inserts and an embossed Mahindra logo at the centre.
The boxy horizontal headlamps of the older XUV500 will now be replaced with bigger and curvy headlamp clusters with projector units, chrome inserts and S-shaped guide lights with new turn indicators. Even the pipsqueak fog lamps have now been replaced with sharper L-shaped, chrome-induced fog lamp enclosures.

As for the side profile the new XUV500 looks same as the older version, with the exception of brand new stylish 10-spoke alloy wheels compared to the dull 5-spoke alloys that you would find in the older models.
The new XUV 500 will come with an all-new top-of-the-line variant with additional premium features for the interiors that were seen in the XUV500 Xculsive edition. Like the ORVMs of the SUV will get a new light on the lower surface, which lights up the road with “XUV500” lettering when they are open. As for the older XUV500, it was limited to the W8 version with features like Electrically Adjustable OVRM with turn indicators, lumber support for driver seats, tilt & telescopic steering adjustment and Bluetooth connectivity.

On feature front the newest addition to the new XUV 500 facelift is the Voice Messaging System (VMS) that gives voice indications open doors, when hand breaks is engaged or/and seat belt alerts; a feature that was never seen in the older XUV 500.
The range topping W10 comes with features like DVD-compatible infotainment system with a 7-inch screen, which will double up as a display for the reversing camera, a start/stop button, a new black and beige interior. These were not a part of the older top-of-the-line W8 version.
As for its powerhouse, the new Mahindra XUV500 sports the same 2.2 litre four-cylinder diesel engine that powers the older XUV500. The m-Hawk engine will be churning out a peek power of 142 PS and even the torque has been slightly improved from the current 330 Nm.
As far as fuel efficiency goes the new Mahindra XUV 500 will give you a return of 16kmpl, whereas the older generation was good for only 15.1kmpl.
