Mahindra and Mahindra is reportedly working on starting the production of the Mahindra XUV Aero. The coupe style SUV was showcased by the company at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Mahindra will soon develop working prototypes of the XUV Aero while the vehicle testing is expected to start soon. While the Mahindra XUV Aero was showcased as a design case study concept, the company has revealed that it has received decent response from customers. The XUV Aero Coupe will be manufactured at Mahindra’s Chakan facility. The XUV Aero gets its naming inspiration from the SUV’s aerodynamic styling. The Mahindra XUV Aero is based on the XUV500 with the front fascia being quite similar to Mahindra’s most popular SUV. Design wise, the car is said to be designed by Pininfarina, which is owned by Mahindra. Being a coupe body-style, the side profile features a sloping roofline while another interesting feature are the suicide door. It is highly unlikely that the production version will get suicide doors, but adding those will give the XUV Aero an edge over its competitors. The rear section gets boxy tailgate design, LED taillights and a sporty rear bumper. Mahindra XUV Aero is expected to be powered by the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel power-train that powers the XUV500. The engine on the XUV Aero is expected to produce 210 BHP of maximum power and will come paired to a 6-speed manual as well as automatic transmission. There is also a possibility of an all-electric power-train as Mahindra is said to be bullish about electric vehicles. We expect Mahindra to showcase a near production prototype of the XUV Aero at the 2018 Auto Expo while the car is expected to be launched by the end of 2018 or early 2019.
