Maruti Suzuki will soon be launching the Baleno RS hot-hatch in India. It is expected that the Indo-Japanese company will raise the curtains of this pumpped-up version of their premium hatchback this feative season.to be more exact, expect the car to make into the dealerships as soon as the month of September this year. We first hand saw the glimpse of this car at this year's Delhi Auto Expo where it was showcased alongside the Ignis Mini SUV. The Maruti Baleno RS is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder, turbocharged (Boosterjet) petrol engine that is capable of producing 110bhp of power along with 170Nm of torque. This direct injection powertrain is claimed to offer high performance and an exhilarating drive. If reports are to be believed, the vehicle will give more mileage than the regular petrol model. Talking about styling, the Baleno 1.0L Boosterjet looks largely identical to the regular model, which is Suzuki's new liquid flow design philosophy. Upfront the V-shaped grille gets a new mesh design while the sweptback headlamps remain the same in terms of their designa nd layout. The side profile seems simple. The only major chnages on the car will be the addition of sporty looking bumpers along with new low slung side skirts. It will come equipped with diamond cut alloy wheels and some other features that add to its sporty profile. On the inside, the Baleno RS will get a 7-inch touch screen infotainment system, automatic climate control along with reverse parking camera with sensors. The company might also add new high end safety features like tyre pressure monitoring system, side airbags, all-disc brakes etc. The current petrol powered Baleno weighs 865kgs while the RS variant weighs around 950kgs.
It is expected to be priced around INR 9 lakh. The vehicle will directly rival against the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI and Fiat Abarth Punto. As a reminder, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS will be sold exclusively through MSI's NEXA premium dealership network. Moreover, the upcoming Maruti Ignis crossover will also be sold through NEXA outlets.
